School Location & Times

Chi Sau Club Headquarters

I have been practicing wing chun kung fu since 1984 and have made a living teaching it for more than 20 years.

I currently give private lessons and run general classes at my school 'Chi Sau Club Kung Fu'  at 1/418 Crown Street, Surry Hills and from my home in Crows Nest. The school is run 'Hong Kong style', and may be very different to what you might have experienced in more commercial schools in Australia.

Training times in Surry Hills are from 10am to 9pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 1pm on Saturdays. Students come and go during those hours at whatever time suits them, in the same way that people attend gyms. There are no gradings. I am in attendance all the time and put people through the system according to their individual progress. Private lessons can also be done at Crows Nest by appointment. Instruction is hands on.

Classes are friendly and free from the pomp and ceremony found in many schools. If you are interested in learning a genuine martial art in the way I have trained in Hong Kong, please come in for a free trial lesson or simply to watch.

Wing Chun Club – Northern Beaches

Wing Chun Club at Harbord is proudly a member of the Chi Sau Club group. Training on Monday and Thursday nights at the Harbord Literary Institue, Wing Chun Club is run by Instructor Martin Kerrigan, twenty one years training, and Instructor Yeng Lau, sixteen years of training.

Wing Chun Club concentrates its training on the three pillars of Wing Chun.
Sil Lim Tao form. Relaxation. Self defence.

Students are taken through a series of techniques which give them a basic understanding of how a wing chun person moves and provides a fast way of learning to defend themselves effectively. Emphasis is placed on relaxation, centre line, minimum use of brute strength and practicality.

The continuous use of chi sau, or sticking hands, is used to accelerate the students skills under pressure in a fun and exciting manner. It is our experience that chi sau, done properly, is one of the most brilliant training aids available to any martial artist.

At a basic level, the training at Wing Chun Club will allow you to defend yourself very quickly. Once the student is confident in this, emphasis is switched to the almost magical structures contained in Sil Lim Tao which teach students to create and handle large amounts of force without effort.

Once Sil Lim Tao has progressed to the required level, students are introduced to the second form, Chum Kiu, which means seeking the bridge and builds movement upon the more static structures of SLT.

Then students are taught the devastating power generated in the third wing chun form, Biu Tze, which means piercing fingers. In this form students are shown how to generate force to all parts of their body.

Wing Chun Club provides a safe and friendly environment in which to learn wing chun. Students are encouraged to help each other, rather than to compete with each other. All sizes and ages above twelve are welcome to train at Wing Chun Club.

At Wing Chun Club you will find that niceness rules!

Internal Wing Chun Kung Fu - North Sydney

I have a passion for teaching Wing Chun Kung Fu. I believe that Wing Chun is an internal martial art and teach accordingly. At the North Sydney school, students will find a fun learning environment where they can learn the skills in two weekly classes, and private lessons.

Some people ask me why they should learn a martial art, as they do not get into trouble and live quiet lives. My answer to that is that Wing Chun is the art for them, as it focuses on an internal skill and is usually like nothing they have ever seen or felt before.

My goal, and what I enjoy most, is my students increasing their Wing Chun skills.
